I have a hewitt packar windows xp sp2,a technician told me to go to the hewlitt packer.com and there is a way to do this for free and it will do it for you but I cannot figure it out, can someone help me with this that knows what they are doing. Thanks Mary

You will not find a way to do a system recovery from any manufacturers websites. They will however sell you a recovery disk for your computer. Most manufacturers install the recovery/installation disk to a partition on your hard-drive. How do I hook up my printer which is a Hewlett Packard Deskjet 682C on the computer?
I had it plugged into the back of the modeum, but it won't work

That particular printer connects to the computer by way of a parallell cable. The parallell port on the back of your computer is shaped like the monitor port, but it is longer. Go to Start > Control Panel > Printers. Double-click Add New Printer, or select it from the list on the left side of the screen (in Windows XP). This will start the Add New Printer Wizard. If your printer is not listed (it should be listed if you have Windows XP), or if you have the installation CD for the printer, click Have Disk and install that driver and software. When the installation wizard tells you to, connect the printer to the computer. Then, finish the installation, and you should be ready to print.

If you have a Mac computer, all you need to do is plug it into a usb port and it will work straight away.

If you upgrade the mobo chances are you will have to upgrade the CPU, and memory as well. And only have 2 IDE devices. Hard-drive and Optical Drive. It can be done, but is basically building a whole new machine.

im still having program problems with my hewlett packard g62 laptop ,i have taken out a?
three year warranty on it and i have it two and a half months and already i have problems with programs switching and going back unexpectedly going to the directory part of my computer and getting half a page on the monitor,do you think i need to get a replacement laptop?

HP is better same thing only difference is different vender, slightly lesser costs because their not as heavy of a marketer as Dell, and also they make laptop/netbook/notebook battery life last longer. Tho personally i'd go with ASUS at the moment because of their new battery cells as well as top of the line models that can compete with alien ware laptops (and at a much cheaper cost with the same parts just slightly different internal component builds to prevent lawsuits and legal mumbojumbo). But all in all i'd go for HP because its the same as dell just not as costly Edited: Forgot to mention alienware laptops are the top of the line laptop models not only over priced, but the highest processing power house laptops you'll find. They go under the name of "AlienWare" but in reality its actually dell who went under a different name for setting up gaming rigged out laptops.

HP has a bigger market share than any other brand of PC by quite a margin. after them comes acer, and after them comes dell ( followed my a myriad of other smaller companies, with mac somewhere toward 8% ) Now it isn't always the best idea to say the most ubiquitous product is the best, but in this case, the market share is a good rough guide. Having said that, in my personal experience, Dell and Toshiba are far and away the most reliable, robust products on the market ( Saying this about Dell would be something of a talking point for many, but Toshiba is pretty much agreed upon as one of the most reliable brands ) It's my opinion build quality is the only property that can really reflect a manufacturer, as the speed and effectiveness of an individual machine really depends on the components you choose to put in it. I mean, if you paid me I could put together a laptop for you more powerful than any stock Dell or HP, but that doesn't make me a respectable manufacturer, does it? =P HP sell so well because their products are priced very very competitively, and in my opinion, the quality of their machines is average at best, so I'd go with the dell.

If you have to ask this question to the world, you have no business opening up a laptop. They are NOT like desktops, and easy to put back together! Take the part to a qualified repair agency.

If you google your model number and add service to it, you can typically score a PDF version of the tear down.

Like the others, I would recommend taking it to a professional rather then trying to do it yourself. Better to pay some money and get it fixed rather then risk screwing things up even more. I personally prefer smaller stores rather then the big chain stores like Best Buy.

I know this because I used the site and the manual on it to take apart my laptop to clean the fan. I booted the computer in safe mode, but theres another password for the administrator account. Is there any other way that i can remove the password?

when I try to print anything all I get is boxes, arrows and numbers on top of the page approx. 1 inch and 1 line across the bottom. The printer also keeps printing this the only way to stop it is to shut th printer off.

where can i get the xp driver for hewlett packard photo drive sd410c?
i have the 98 driver but honestly my computer is too good for 98 and let alone vista. I grabbed this drive out of a old computer i had and figured the drive would come in handy for all my old photo's i need to upload. The light inside the scanner drive is flashing, but when i hit the button to insert the photo nothing happens. It worked fine on the other computer.

Does anyone have any idea how to do this? My computer will turn on like everything is working. It'll start up with a thing that says "owner" so I click on owner and just when my desktop is about to load, it stops and goes back to the "owner" page. It does this even in safe mode... You didn't say what OS you are running but I'm guessing it's Windows XP. If you really want to install again, you could try pressing F11 while booting. Your recovery partition should be unaffected by this problem. You can reload your operating system from there. This behavior is usually caused directly or indirectly by malware. It changes the registry to point to its own program (usually it is wsaupdater.exe) instead of userinit.exe. Subsequently, if your malware or antivirus program whacked wsaupdater or its ilk, you can't log in any more after it tells you to reboot. If you boot into the XP recovery console you could try copying c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe to c:\windows\system32\wsaupdater.exe. If this gets you logged in, you should at some point fix the registry to point to userinit.exe. There is another method you can try if you if that didn't work but it entails booting into a standalone XP environment and changing the registry. If you are up for that, you can google userinit.exe "hiren" registry. Put hiren in quotes or you'll get too many bogus hits. The hits at the top will tell you how to do it. There are similar solutions right here in Yahoo Answers.

Ensure that System Restore is enabled by clicking "Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance." Select the "System Restore" tab. Under "Available Drives," see if the drive you want to restore is being monitored. Ensure that the "Turn off System Restore on All Drives" check box is not checked. Select "Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore." This will open the System Restore Wizard window. Select the check box next to "Restore my computer to an earlier time." Click "Next." Click on a date on the calendar that is at least 1 day in the past. In the pane on the right, select a restore point from the list. Click "Next." Save your work and close any programs you currently have running. Click "Next" to shut down Windows and restore your computer to an earlier state.

You didn't say what OS you are running but I'm guessing it's Windows XP. If you really want to install again, you could try pressing F11 while booting. Your recovery partition should be unaffected by this problem. You can reload your operating system from there. This behavior is usually caused directly or indirectly by malware. It changes the registry to point to its own program (usually it is wsaupdater.exe) instead of userinit.exe. Subsequently, if your malware or antivirus program whacked wsaupdater or its ilk, you can't log in any more after it tells you to reboot. If you boot into the XP recovery console you could try copying c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe to c:\windows\system32\wsaupdater.exe. If this gets you logged in, you should at some point fix the registry to point to userinit.exe. There is another method you can try if you if that didn't work but it entails booting into a standalone XP environment and changing the registry. If you are up for that, you can google userinit.exe "hiren" registry. Put hiren in quotes or you'll get too many bogus hits. The hits at the top will tell you how to do it. There are similar solutions right here in Yahoo Answers.

Ensure that System Restore is enabled by clicking "Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance." Select the "System Restore" tab. Under "Available Drives," see if the drive you want to restore is being monitored. Ensure that the "Turn off System Restore on All Drives" check box is not checked. Select "Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore." This will open the System Restore Wizard window. Select the check box next to "Restore my computer to an earlier time." Click "Next." Click on a date on the calendar that is at least 1 day in the past. In the pane on the right, select a restore point from the list. Click "Next." Save your work and close any programs you currently have running. Click "Next" to shut down Windows and restore your computer to an earlier state.

i feel your pain. i used to own an ancient hp computer, lasted 7 years, it was a great machine. but now Hp has become an awful company. my pavilion dv6000 notebook had to have its motherboard replaced TWICE and its screen replaced once. Their customer service was awful, they didnt understand anything said to them. I WILL NEVER BUY ANYHTING HP AGAIN! AND A WARNING TO OTHERS, DO NOT BUY HP PRODUCTS!

Get your system restore/recovery disc that came with the computer or the windows CD, whichever it came with, put it in the cd rom, reboot the computer and when it asks you to "hit any key to boot from CD" hit a key and follow the directions.
2 :
some computers have an onboard recovery that acts like a fresh install. (not the same as system recover in start menu) my hp if i press f10 at this bios screen it reinstalls windows and everything just like it came from the foctory. if this is not an option you can order the same thing on cd from the manufacturer. or you could always get you own copy of windows from somware and reinstall a bare copy that way. but if you dont have a library of disk for the programs you use ware you can install them back in after then i wouldnt recomemend that. although it is the best way to make one like new. i would probly suggest getting the manufaturers cd and running that. it may take a couple hours but when its done it will be identicle to the way it was when you bought it. just make sure you do disk clean up and defragmenting after that. thats a must after any complete install like that.

How can I complain to Hewlett Packard about their poor customer service?
After 2 months of getting my HP Pavilion laptop computer, the letters on the keys began to rub off. I contacted HP and was told that wasn't covered and to buy new letters from World Language Resources. The letters were purchased, but didn't match my keypad letters at all. I waited longer, until a month before my expiration date and contacted them again. This time, they had me send it to them. After 8 business days, I hadn't heard from them and I called. They hadn't told me they wanted to now charge me $318 for repair. In the 25 years I've been using computers, I've never had letters come off the keys, nor the keypads become smooth and ridged. I do not have long fingernails, so this has to be a problem with the keypads themselves, a flaw on their side, not mine. No repair was made, since I refused to pay that exhorbitant amount. I'm extremely disappointed in their warranty and service!

I figured that it would be cheaper to go to the source. The price escalated rapidly as I "configured" my choice of computers. I think I found a better deal at one of the "Big Box" stores. Why do they want so much! I mean I am beating down their door to trade with them and they like, insult me over price.

any website you custom build a computer it will go through the roof, somtimes you are better off just going to bestbuy, but they also seem to tack on quite a bit of money aswell

If you want a custom computer and know exactly what you want and how to put it together, you can actually get a great deal buying the parts and building it yourself. That's what my husband ended up doing. Now he's getting the parts together for a water cooling system since the fan he has is very loud. You might also want to look into getting a cheaper base model computer and swapping out parts. Drives, RAM, etc... are really easy to swap out. You can then turn around and sell the pieces on eBay. You probably won't get all of your money back, but it can soften the blow of the expenses considerably. Customization doesn't come cheap. When you deviate from an established configuration, that means they have to build your computer specially, which does cost them more. If you can customize it yourself, you'll save loads and you can get the exact components you want. Ordering online is often cheaper than going to the store and buying things too. We do a lot of research and comparison before purchasing, especially electronics. Good Luck!

That's make you hard to determine a reasonable price from your budget, yet the PC you have configured manually will be safe to use and providing stable and on-demand performance for your works. Trying to assembly a new PC manually you will have to study manually and armed with experience. As the basic you have to start collecting information for each kind of PC component e.g. Processor, Motherboard(Chipset and additional capability) and so on. It needs skill to make sure all the components you used will work and function together, this will take time for a beginner and you may meet challenge and failure. Try to look around other HP model or even other manufacturers. It's good if you have time to browse through Processor & Chipset manufacturer website e.g. Intel (http://www.intel.com) and AMD (http://www.amd.com), reading on these relevant information will greatly helping you to make your decision. If you cant find the driver on HP's website then they have a great driver pack on most torrent sites called Driver Solution 11 that is free. I advise you download that. Its what i use to install all my audio, video, and internet drivers.

My father received it back in 2000 when Ford Motor Company was giving computers away to the employees. Once he got it he left it in the box, and threw it into a corner in the basement and forgot about it. # Maximum Memory: 768MB # Slots: 3 (3 banks of 1) # Standard Memory: 128MB removable # USB Support: 1.x Compliant

Need to order a hard drive for a Hewlett Packard Compaq Presario SR2013WM?
My friends PC crashed and they need a hard drive. He ask me to order one off from Ebay. That is the type of desk top it is and he said a SCSI but when I look it doesn't seem that easy, like some say 50 pin some 80..How can I find out the exact hard drive it has or can anyone just tell me please. I know its a 160gb..Help please!

It uses SATA hard drives. Don't go to ebay go here they are just as cheap or cheaper. What is a Hewlett Packard N5135 laptop worth?
May buy one used, can't find much info on it online. Except seller gives this info: Celeron (I think 700 mhz.) processor w/ 256 meg ram & a 5 Gigibyte hard drive. Any opinions on its value? He said he needs more storage capacity thats why he's selling. Thanks in advance for any help.

My battery pack on my laptop lasts about 1-hour.....is this about the right time for a laptop...I need to know because I have only had this laptop since November and I need to call HP if I am not getting my recommended usage out of this laptop. I do not think an 1-hour is a good time. I have never owned a laptop so, I am asking you guys.

Sorry, HP's are junk. They are just a Compaq with a different name and color, made in China...Junk. They also have the worst service department in the world, literally. Laptop batteries will usually last from 1.5 to 5 hours, depending upon the demand, the battery and the use. Sound burns up a lot of juice as does the DVD player so if you're watching movies or playing games an hour is about right. You can purchase a better battery. Good luck

I have a dv8000 which is pretty close to a dv9000 and my battery lasts about 2 to 2.5 hours when watching movies with the screen brightness turned down all of the way. Now if I try to play games or other intensive applications I get about half of that. So it all depends on what you are doing. After looking at hps website it shows that there are two types of batteries for your laptop a regular one and a high capacity one. So if you are running high demanding applications and have the regular battery 1 hour sounds about right. If you are just surfing the web or listening to music then it sounds like something is wrong.

Is there a certain key on a hewlett packard pc.You can hit when its rebooting,to reformat the computer?
I can get the reformat disk.but if theres an easier way i would love to know.

No, Thank goodness. You should not make it that easy to reformat a computer drive. It could be dangerous

No, formatting capability is not part of the BIOS which is what you would need to do that. Not to mention format is really dependent on the type of O/S you are going to put on there. Not all O/S use the same type of file system. You have to use the O/S disk to handle that task.

you need the reformat disk. when you boot the computer with the reformat disk in the disk drive, you hit the F12 key or F10 it should say at the bottom of the screen for boot options. then choose to boot from the D Drive. then just follow the instructions

microsoft, hewlett packard and the many computer/software companies dont provide this function. however, i do understand that u want to quickly destroy all data and its traces from ur pc low cost method: a very powerful magnet or solenoid (electromagnet). applying this device will damage the hard disk even without rebooting. another low cost method: while the pc is still running unplug or plug another device like another harddisk/dvddrive/floppydrive. to electrically damage the hard disk. a pricey option (negotiable): get a programmer to make a shortcut program to erase your hard disk on demand.

Is it possible to order only the screen part of a hewlett packard notebook?
Help,is it possible to order only the screen part of a hewlett packard notebook?
This =screen has been damaged,cracked,although computer base of notebook works.Looks like it was stepped on and cracked,shows large black areas on monitor screen now!help!

Yes it's possible to order replacement screens for HP notebooks but the odds are greatly in favor if the part being more expensive than the laptop is worth (last time I priced a replacement monitor for a laptop it was around $800). If you're in a bind you should be able to connect a normal computer monitor to your laptop assuming there's a video out connection (there usually is), although admittedly this will severely limit your mobility.

It is possible to find replacement parts. Go to their website and get the phone number for their tech support. Be advised, they charge a lot for a screen, if the laptop is a couple years old it may be smarter to get a new laptop than sink $400 dollars into your old one.

Some places will even offer you a discount if you "exchange" your broken LCD for the replacement. I use surplustraders.net when looking for an LCD as they have the largest selection.

I have the Compaq Presario F700 Notebook PC and my internet connection is with the phone line plugs into the DSL box and another phone line connects the laptop and the DSL box. Really not convenient to drag the line around. How do I setup the wireless for it? Thanks.
