Packard Hewlett or Packard Bell

Can i use a Dell back-up CD with windows XP pro. sp3 for my Packard Hewlett (or Packard Bell)?
OK, i had a Dell back-up CD from my old PC (xp pro sp3). Now, since i hate vista, i would like switching back to XP. Can i use that CD to install windows xp on my new Packard Hewlett (or Packard bell) computer? I need it fast because i need to start doing work and installing stuff, so it would be really convenient if the answer was soon. Thanks alot.

No way. That disc is made for the Dell only. Learn how to tweak Vista. It is far superior than XP. Go here but I would not do number 3 or 7. http://mostlysavingmoney.com/top-10-windows-vista-speed-tweaks/

No. You can update your window vista to window 7.

to my knowlage you can't do that

Back up CDs are set up for the machine it came with. Drivers will be different and it may have been modified by the vendor (Dell, Packard Bell, etc.) Most of the time it will not install because it searches for a specific hardware key to let it know it is on the correct type of machine. If it is a Retail or full version of XP you would be OK... as long as you have the product code to enter and you would still need to update the drivers. Dell CDs are not interchangeable with other systems.

It may be that he chose to outout to an external monitor instead of the built in lcd panel. It depends on which model you have, so try a few different combinations. For example, often either Fn + F3, Fn + F5, Fn + F8, or Fn + F9 You may have bad hardware or a bad driver. Shut down completely. Wait a few secs, then turn on. Do you see the mfgrs splash screen? Hit f8. Do you see the boot menu? If so, the lcd panel and the video subsystem are physically OK. Choose safe more and bring it up. Again, if you see stuff, you're going to be OK and you probably just need to install a driver. If it is giving you a black screen at startup and a small curser in the upper left, your motherboard cannot see your hard drive. Go into the bios and check that it is OK or run a quick dignostic. In many systems, diags are hidden in f12 at startup. Does anyting appear on an external monitor. If so, the LCD panel is bad and the video card OK. If not, then the video card is bad.

Is it true Compaq sold out to Hewlett Packard?

Is it true Compaq sold out to Hewlett Packard?
Does that make Compaq accessories compatible with hp products?

what do you mean sold out. They merged in 2002!
2 :
They will all be compatible anyway. Theres nothing special about these brands. They all just buy the same components put them in a pretty box and write their name on it. As they dont actually make the computer parts like the motherboard themselves they all have to be compatible with each other so anyone can use them to make a computer.
3 :
HP and Compaq have merged. Accessories with standard connectors are always compatible, such as USB, PS2, et cetera. Accessories with custom HP or Compaq connectors will most likely not be compatible, such as power supplies.
4 :
Yes, the two companies merged back in 2001 http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press/2001/010904a.html As for the 2nd part of your question, it would depend on the specific accessory, the version of the accessory, the operating system, driver availability, etc.

they merged in 2001

Like all American firms there is a real probability that Al Qaida will eventually find a reason to sue it out of existence in the US court system. They have all but done so in the case of Ford, GM and Chrysler (sic). How pray tell does a company run whist paying more by force of civil law suit for "witch doctor ordered happy pills" for it's "workforce" than it does for raw materials? Remember, Al Qaida is a terrorist group. They have as a modus operandi the willful destruction of "enemies" by enabling or forcing dope down the systems of said "infidels" (what they, mocking reverence for the Muslim faith, call us). Of course, given the utter ease of coercing doctors to proscribe pills by legitimate threats of pulling doctor's licenses by exploiting the conserfative hatred for the working class in conserfative civil court, they will attack us not through airplanes into buildings mostly, but by our own court system.

RAM for my Hewlett-Packard Pavilion ze2000

Where can I find RAM for my Hewlett-Packard Pavilion ze2000 notebook?
I am looking for a good price my friend recently added more RAM to his laptop and he got 2 GB for $40. So please make sure the price of the RAM is a good deal.

512mb piece for 29.00 not too bad as your machine max memory is 512 or 1 gb
2 :
2 gigs for $40 is a great deal, but I could almost guarantee it's not the same type of memory that you use. The Pavilion ze2000 uses DDR 2700 memory, as opposed to the much cheaper DDR 5400. Your computer also has two ram slots and can recognize up to 2 gig, so keep that in mind when you buy memory. Here is the info from HP.com for the laptop. Manufacturer HP - Compaq Model Pavilion ze2000 Series Maximum Memory 2048MB Standard Memory 256 or 512MB removable Number of Slots 2 (2 banks of 1) You can expect to pay ~$50 for 512meg of 2700 on sale. ~$70-$90 for 1gig. I don't think they sell a 2gig DDR 2700. If you do a search for DDR 2700 on any computer site, you will get the most recent prices. Make sure it says 'notebook memory' as well. CompUSA.com was the best prices I could find months ago. Best of luck!
