Can't compare them since IBM does not make Laptops, or any PCs for that matter. They sold off their PC division to Lenovo over 5 years ago.

Hewlett-Packard Pavilion 7940 and getting an ACPI error
I'm trying to install a memory module in a Hewlett-Packard Pavilion 7940 and getting an ACPI error?
I'm trying to install a second memory module in my H-P Pavilion 7940 (which is ok according to h-p), but when I do, I get this kind of error message: The ACPI BIOS in this system is not fully compliant with the ACPI specification. Can someone help me a) obtain an updated BIOS (PhoenixBIOS) -OR- b) disable ACPI in my bios I'm running windows 2000 on the system and H-P's support has been absolutely NO help. Any thoughts, directions, help, recommendations, etc?

504 MB of Ram will barely run windows Vista if thats what it came with
2 :
It's pretty good, I would probably think about upgrading the RAM though. 1GB should be good.
3 :
If by "new" you mean brand spankin' new, in the box, never been opened, then no. Not good. If you mean "new to you", then it is OK. Windows XP will run just "OK". Some versions of Linux will run "great!".
4 :
Not really, The more ram the better You need at least 2 gigs for vista. A pentinum 4 was good In it's day, But not in the days of duo or quad core processors.
