Had Compaq laptops for years before HP took 'em over. GREAT tech support back then. Late experiences with HP laptops has ben good. Built pretty well, haven't needed to call Tech Support. One thing, though. Don't buy the low end units. Spring for the more "professional" models, equipped with XP. They are usually a little more robust and trust me you should have XP Pro if U R gonna use Windows. Spring for the service contract IF THE CALL CENTER FOR THAT SERVICE IS N THE US. You usually then don't get someone in Bangladesh if U have to call, and if you don't speak Urdu, as I do not, you can have a conversation with the tech. Hope this helps, -- Doc

HP and Compaq are the same company, so their products are very similar, except HP is usually a tad bit more expensive Pros: 1. Relatively inexpensive 2. Customizable on their website. 3. Costco carries them 4. Generally Reliable Cons: 1. not much here, the only one i would say is that HP/Compaq does not offer the top of the line graphics card for gaming.

They are both made by the same company, Hewlett Packard. I see more HP boxes vs the Compaq in my daily work. I prefer the HP. Mostly because they have been around a lot longer than the Compaq's and HP has always made machines from Servers and tape backup units to printers. Plus HP puts more into the HP line and not so much in the Compaq line.

well hi. you wanna change your lap top's CD rom right? well you may wanna go to the shop where you gonna buy the CD-ROM, and let them change it or if you wanna change it yourself, you may wanna look at your product manual on opening your laptop's casing. well if you dont have those you can look for it online here is the site for your laptop if it is Intel: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=385175&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us and here is the site if your computer is AMD: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=353514&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us Just click on the Manuals Link and it will provide you all the info about replacing hardwares or any thing on your laptop. look on the bottom of your latop there will be cd icon somewhere imprinted in the bottom case. It will point to a screw and you have to take that screw out and then push in on the cd tray and it will pop out. If it does not pop out than insert a paper clip into the hole in the cd tray cover and it will pop open and pull on it jently outward. Make sure you take the screw out before pulling on it like this. Make sure you get the exact same optical drive or one that is compatable with your model from the manufacturer because unlike a desktop pc where virtually any optical drive is inter changeable it is not the case with laptops. I've seen where a optical drive causing strange problems. Good luck.

Number keys sticking on my nice hewlett packard laptop?
number keys sticking on my nice hewlett packard laptop?
it won't type the first 5 numbers nor the @ sign so that limits what I can do..any solutions I think some (don't laugh) juice from my uncles dip got in there.What can I do or what could a tech do and what would it cost.

I'm not laughing, I've done it before, just not to a laptop. A lot of people have. Your going to have to refer to the owners manual and take your laptop apart to clean it. Be very carefull.

i reformatted my notebook using operating system cd(windows xp home edition service 2 pack) and plus my driver application and recovery cd. i downloaded itunes and when i run the program.i get a message saying that the windows installer was not set up correctly? not sure why this happened.

Uninstall itunes, Reinstall itunes.

you need a program called windows installer most likely. Search Microsoft's website, or else make sure that you have downloaded all the important updates from Microsoft.com

Windows installer is packaged in the installation files within the itunes download files and not your operating system. Remove the downloaded wizard of itunes to your Recycle Bin and download it again. Sometimes a download goes bad which is probably what happened in your situation.

You reboot a computer, not software.
2 :
rebooting could only used for computers and means turning it off and then turning it back on. to turn off a certain app, you need to know it's process from the task manager. if you know the process just press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC And then the processes tab. find the programs process in the list nd press delete nd ok. if you dont know the process download security task manager($29-get the demo) nd it will tell which process belong to wht program. then go to START>PROGRAMS FILES>the program nd run it. if the programs runs when the computer starts reboot the computer it is faster and hassle-free. if it doesnt help email me :)

You can use a CD as many times as you like, you just need a genuine code, there will be a code on the computer tower somewhere possibly on the side or back. So yes it will work if you have another code.

Just wondering if it will play before i fork out £20 for the privalage.

From the sepcs. i read on a DV9075ea....no sorry not comft., but it will play it.

After taking a look at the specs, I'd say that this notebook will play CS:S fairly comfortably. I'm not sure how comfortable, but as long as your getting at least 30 FPS, you shouldn't get any video lag. The processor is good enough, the graphics card has a 425Mhz shader clock, which should play source engine games well enough to get 30 FPS at least. Probably as high as 70 or more.' Now for the OTHER source of lag. Your ping. Even though this laptop has integrated wireless, I'd still use a hard line ethernet cable when gaming, unless you're laptop is REALLY close to the wireless router.

I already searched the specs of your laptop and....... Well, yeah, you can play counter strike source. If you can run half life 2 in your computer, you can definetly can run counter strike source with the same graphics as half life 2.
