can I make my hewlett packard pavilion go faster?
old desktop computer that runs kind of slow. It runs pretty fast considering its age. What do I upgrade to make it go faster. Is it the hard-drive? Can you tell me how to do it and how much will it cost? Computer was recently wiped clean so its not loaded down with a bunch of stuff or has any issues , Its just not new.

Best thing you can do is get more memory (RAM) and possibly upgrade the processor CPU, if needed

Probaly Not. Yes it could be the Hard Drive since it it so old of a computer. I my self have a old compaq laptop witch only has internet on it and still runs very slow and it got cleaned of viruses and stuff like that.

Iceblink Luck has a good answer, too bad you didn't give us more info so we could be more helpful. just cuz ya recently wiped it clean does not mean it is not loaded down with junk (after rebooting or booting). Clean out the Startup folder so it does not load unnecessary stuff check it first with Task Manager, check all tabs, (Ctrl+Alt+Delete). You could try overclocking but we ain't going there cuz we don't wanna chance it. ;-) PS: Have at least 2 Gig RAM if yer comp. will take it.

If your virus/spyware free, there are a couple things you can do get your computer working faster. If you using your computer for normal stuff and not gaming. You don't always need more RAM you just need to perform a few maintenance task. First, if you haven't cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC's resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to barebones by altering your msconfig. Here is how: 1. Open your Start menu. 2. Click Run 3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe" 4. In the "system configuration utility",click either "service" or "startup" tab 5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using. 6. Click "OK"

I do not know how old for your old desktop computer is. But not important. For running slow there are many causes: Microsoft Registry Problems = Slow Computer! Spyware/Adware RAM De-Fragmenting Etc. You are going to need to be a little more specific. Apple Powerbook laptop's probably only have usb and/or firewire ports available, while older HP printers may need a parallel cable/ centronics input.

If for some reason you need a driver, Apple has them here. But as long as the printer has a USB or Firewire connection it should work with a Mac. http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/drivers/hpproductdrivers.html

can a hewlett packard with ati radeon mobility 9600 be upgraded to a higher end chipset?
i am about to buy a used laptop with a ATI RADEON MOBILITY 9600 graphics set in it. can it be upgraded? i should be able to take it out and put in a better one since it is a dedicated card off the MOBO right? or some part of that info wrong?

No. You cannot really upgrade a laptop.

You cannot change the graphics card in the laptop since it is the part of your motherboard not a attached component.it is soldered into the motherboard once laptop leaves the factory so it cannot be upgraded with better graphics Card.

No she woulden't because Mcain is not going to win Obama is, and you republicans need to stop with the race thing, it doesn't matter he is a nice man and he will help us ALL, NOT JUST THE RICH, I support the war because i am a soldier myself, but do you see how the country is being ran now?, do you see the path we are taking, i don't like the outcome, becuase it is a bad one, we are talking another Depression, and the poor will go into more of a slum and class then they are now, republicans do not help the poor, they help big rich Oil tycoons, Busch gives the HUGE company's big tax brake's when they can easily afford the Tax, the poor and elderly are losing more healthcare, less foodstamps, and less federal asstince, one reason Busch doesn't understand the life of a poor, he grew up filthy rich, and two the money we are spending on EVERYTHING els but our own home country the United States Of America, and Mcain thinks the same way Busch does, and if we put another Busch, then the country will turn into ruin, the people that need the most help are the people on our own soil, and that's why a DEMOCRAT needs to be put into office, Obama, and Hillary should be Vice President, remember Bill Clinton?, think back at what he did, all the programs he did for the poor, and eldirly, all the federal asstince, race, income, and backround didn't matter, he grew up poor he understands what these people need, i grew up poor also, and our family was helped sooo much by this great man, then Busch came and took all of the programs away, my family stopped getting federal asstince checks, and we went back to bread and beans, Believe me, if you think you amde a mistake putting Busch in, then put Mcain and you wll really kick yourself in the ass.. We need to put our views asside and think about what needs to happen. and why should obama not ahve the right to be president, jsut because he is black?, well he grew up in this country like you, but the only diffrence from you and him is he is 30x more succsesful then you. Obama for president, for the people, not for the Donald rump CEO's of mass-produced goods
